"enerMAT" - Saxony researches on complex energy management systems for buildings

The five project partners of the »enerMAT« project – the Fraunhofer EAS IIS Dresden and four Saxon SMEs – want to drastically simplify the complex design process for energy management systems which integrate the entire building installations. Their objective is to use only the amount of energy in buildings which is actually needed – without reducing the level of comfort. This, in turn, poses entirely new challenges to the level of automation. The project partners are developing a concept and a software tool for energy-efficient control systems. The focus is on simulating a holistic model of a building and its technical equipment which encompasses all operating scenarios. It starts already in the project phase. Thus, it is possible to already reach sound decisions on investment and operating costs, energy savings, and comfort at this phase.
