Since 2000, Saxony’s economy has increased by more than 30 percent; it, thus, exhibits one of the highest GDP growth rates among all German federal states.

Saxony's Most Important Export Partners
China remains Saxony's largest export partner worldwide in 2022. Compared to the previous year, deliveries to China increased by 10 percent to 8.7 billion euros. Overall, exports to Asia also increased by 18%. Deliveries to the American continent also increased significantly - by 20%. The 22 percent increase in exports to the USA - Saxony's second most important export country - was also a decisive factor. With a 57.3% share of all exports, Europe was also the most important continent for exports by Saxon producers in 2022. Deliveries to the Czech Republic (export country no. 3) and Poland (export country no. 4) increased by 36% and 49% respectively.

Saxony's Most Important Import Partners
Around 60% of all imports to Saxony in 2022 came from EU member states, over a fifth of which came from the neighboring Czech Republic (with a significant increase of 36%). The Netherlands (+41%), China (+47%) and Japan (+30%) in particular delivered more goods to Saxony in 2022.
