Every year, around 130,000 tons of potatoes are processed into a variety of potato products for the retail and wholesale trade. Around 70 percent of the potatoes come from regional contract farmers. The special feature: Friweika uses 100 percent of the potatoes. All by-products from potato processing are used in biogas plants to generate energy and the resulting residues are used as fertilizer on the potato farmers' fields. At the same time, most of the process water is recycled and reused. The potatoes are stored close to production in large containers and batch tracking is RFID-based.

Friweika built a new logistics center at the site in 2017. This took account of the expansion in production capacity and increased the storage capacity for commercial products by 50 %.
