FES GmbH Fahrzeug-Entwicklung Sachsen is revolutionizing the mobility industry. The development service provider for the automotive industry presented an environmentally friendly innovation in 2024 - the FES fuel cell truck.
FES GmbH was formed in 1992 from the development department of Sachsenring GmbH, which had designed and produced the "Trabi" since 1957. Today, the company offers comprehensive solutions in complete vehicle development for national and international automobile manufacturers, suppliers and the railroad and aviation industries.
It is particularly important for FES to be present at its customers' development sites, which is why the company has resident engineers in Ingolstadt, Wolfsburg and Munich who are in direct contact with the customers.
In addition to providing development services, FES GmbH has started to develop and manufacture its own products aimed at the energy transition in the mobility sector. With the technological change in the automotive industry and the increasing relevance of climate-friendly drive systems, the topic of hydrogen became more of a focus. FES GmbH reacted to these developments at an early stage: Since 2017, the company has been systematically investing in the development of fuel cell systems and has expanded its portfolio accordingly.

FEScell
With the FEScell - the world's most compact fuel cell system for autonomous intralogistics vehicles - the company has been setting completely new standards in series production since 2021. At the BMW plant in Leipzig, the technology is impressively demonstrating its capabilities and driving the revolution of emission-free mobility forward at full speed.
Fuel cell truck
In 2024, FES celebrated a significant milestone in its history with the launch of the fuel cell truck. The advanced fuel cell system was specially developed for freight transport. The truck with a gross vehicle weight of 18 tons is ready for series production and has been available for delivery since 2025. Depending on customer requirements, it is also possible to select other configurations in terms of gross vehicle weight and superstructures.
