E-Drives for Mercedes-Benz

The Kamenz site has two battery factories and is an important part of the global battery production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

The second battery factory, which went into operation in 2018, quadrupled the production and logistics area in Kamenz to a total of around 80,000 m2 and relies on state-of-the-art systems and a wide range of Industry 4.0 technologies. It is also designed as a CO2-neutral factory: A combined heat and power plant and a photovoltaic system, combined with geothermal energy, supply the production facilities with energy. The factory has been producing the battery systems for the Mercedes-Benz EQC since 2019 and for the compact electric SUVs since 2021.

More than two million batteries have been produced at the Kamenz site since Accumotive started production. From 2024, battery production for new all-electric Mercedes EQ models, starting with the MMA platform, will begin in Kamenz.
