By networking the future-oriented medical technology industry with mobile communications and information technology, the 6GHI project, which is funded by the EU, the federal government and the state of Saxony, will drive forward the development of innovative medical products with the help of new network technologies and virtualized services. A technology cluster at the interface of mobile communications (5G / 6G) and MedTech is to be created in the Leipzig area, which will enable other relevant industrial companies and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to settle here.

In addition to participating in national and international research projects, the institute is also available as a consulting service provider for hospital operators and major industries worldwide.

In the "6G Health Lab", the 6G Health Institute GmbH is working together with Telefónica on the realization of a 5G campus network to test medical IoT applications and derive the requirements for the future 6G mobile communications standard.
