From Taiwan to Saxony: Here to Stay
TPC Germany has been based in northern Dresden since July 2025. The Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (WFS) supported the company during its relocation. To mark the company’s first anniversary, WFS visited the company and interviewed the local CEO, Yung-Meng Tu.
TPC Germany GmbH, based in Dresden, is a subsidiary of Taiwan Puritic Corp. (Hsinchu City, Taiwan, founded in 1985), which specializes in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of semiconductor equipment. Among other things, the company designs and builds gas supply and distribution systems and also offers a range of gas supply-related services, including the ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the systems. TPC Germany was founded in mid-2025 and has been based in the north of Dresden for a year. The company currently employs around 50 staff..
- How have you established yourselves in Dresden?
TPC’s decision to establish a presence in Dresden was driven by customer demand and our long-term vision for Saxony as a premier European hub for semiconductors and high technology. Following strategic discussions with TSMC and a thorough on-site assessment in 2024, we committed to launching a German subsidiary to deliver faster, more reliable, and localized support to our regional customers.
To support both the launch and long-term operation of its German subsidiary, TPC has established an international team in Germany. This group combines personnel dispatched from Taiwan with experienced professionals from TPC's global operations. Having spent years managing international projects, these team members bring deep operational expertise, multilingual capabilities, and cross-cultural adaptability. They will drive knowledge transfer, ensure compliance with local regulations, and facilitate a seamless operational launch.
Local recruitment is vital to establishing TPC in Germany. By leveraging multiple hiring channels, we have already achieved roughly 95% of our initial hiring goals. When evaluating local candidates, we prioritize both technical expertise and the communication and teamwork skills necessary to thrive in an international environment.
- Have you already been able to build local business relationships?
Yes. Since its establishment, TPC Germany has prioritized building reliable business relationships and a stable supply chain. To fully support our German operations, TPC actively identifies and evaluates suppliers and service providers globally. After a year of strategic growth, TPC Germany now connects with 145 premier suppliers. Our network includes specialized welding labor, materials, equipment, professional services, and consulting companies across Europe, Asia, and North America—including Germany, Taiwan, Japan, the Netherlands, the US, and Singapore. Some suppliers have already joined our current construction phase, initiating active business with TPC.
This partner network expands continuously as our operations grow. For TPC, supplier development goes far beyond procurement; it is a vital pillar in building a sustainable, local operating base in Germany. We are committed to deepening our collaboration with German and European partners to strengthen the regional industrial ecosystem. Together with our local suppliers and service providers, we aim to cultivate mutually beneficial, long-term business opportunities.
- What are the company’s plans for the coming years?
TPC’s long-term objective in Germany is to establish a sustainable operating base to support our customers nationwide and across Europe. Building on our collaboration with TSMC, we have begun engaging with other local semiconductor firms—already securing a contract and launching operations with a second major customer. Looking ahead, TPC remains committed to expanding its German presence and contributing to the growth of Saxony’s high-technology and semiconductor ecosystem.
Staff development is foundational to our long-term strategy. At TPC, we have always prioritized employee training, technical capability, workplace safety, and local compliance. For our Taiwanese team members expanding to Germany, we provided weekly German language training from September last year through May this year, ahead of on-site construction. This training was designed with a clear trajectory: first, to help employees navigate daily life; next, to facilitate smooth workplace communication; and ultimately, to foster deep integration into German society and culture.
Although on-site operational volume increased in May, TPC continues to promote self-directed German language acquisition. Furthermore, the company provides financial support for supplementary language courses and formal certification.
Beyond language training, TPC coordinates formal certification for standard German regulatory licenses, including overhead crane, forklift, and scissor-lift operation. This keeps our team fully compliant with local safety laws. Additionally, we encourage ongoing professional development by fully subsidizing approved external training programs.
