Hydrogen Infrastructure for the Future

The Leipzig-based ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH operates Germany’s second largest gas transmission network with a pipeline length of approximately 7,000 kilometers and about 450 interconnection points. And is working with partners to make it fit for hydrogen technologies.

Together with partners, the company is now also developing solutions which are designed to make today’s gas pipelines, measurement technology, fittings, and valves fit for hydrogen technologies. For example, two industrial partners already produce hydrogen and synthetic methane from regenerative power and feed these energy carriers into the ONTRAS grid. ONTRAS also builds and operates gas stations for compressed natural gas (CNG) and hydrogen to supply fuel cell vehicles.
