The new construction of the Transgourmet logistics center in Striegistal has reached its next milestone: the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on 17 August. The logistics center covers a site area of 40,850 m² and has a total storage area of 10,000 m², including 6,750 m² of refrigerated areas. The Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (WFS) managed the investment project together with its partners.

The new building will be completed on schedule by BREMER Cool GmbH from Leipzig on December 19, 2024 and put into operation in January 2025.

With 34 goods-in and goods-out gates, the building offers optimal logistics options and will become the new workplace for 125 employees. The expansion of the team will create new jobs, positioning Transgourmet as a major employer in the region and making a significant contribution to economic stability.

Transgourmet attaches particular importance to sustainability during construction. In order to minimize the ecological footprint, the new building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. This includes a highly efficient CO² refrigeration system with heat recovery and a 750 kWp photovoltaic system. In order to be equipped for the future, charging options are being prepared for electric cars and trucks. For rainwater management and to protect against heavy rainfall events, the property offers rainwater retention and will be connected to the municipality's newly constructed rainwater retention basin.

Around 26,000 tons of food are to be delivered annually from the new site to around 1,275 customers from the catering, company and social catering sectors in the region. The delivery area extends from Saxony to the Czech and Polish borders.

The construction required a total of 21,250 tons of concrete, 52 kilometers of cable - once the route from Striegistal to Dresden - were laid and 1,850 metres of cooling pipes were installed. In addition, 56 new trees and 380 shrubs were planted to green the site.

Transgourmet is looking forward to reaching this important milestone and preparing for the opening of the new logistics center next year.
