Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. and AHK Taiwan agree to cooperate on expanding activities in Taiwan
Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (WFS) is stepping up its efforts to position Saxony internationally in Asia. To this end, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Taiwan will now support various projects and measures on site as a representative of WFS.
"The Taiwanese market has become significantly more important for Saxony in recent years. Taiwan is a key economic partner for Saxony and a global leader in key industries of the future, particularly semiconductors, electronics, and precision manufacturing. This ties in directly with Saxony's strengths in microelectronics, automotive, and mechanical engineering. For Saxony as a business location, this means reliable supply chains, access to cutting-edge technological expertise, and opportunities for investment, research collaborations, and the internationalization of Saxon companies. Because we are Europe's number one in microelectronics, the Free State of Saxony has already made a name for itself in Taiwan. Saxony's now even closer cooperation with the AHK Taiwan will help us to strengthen the Free State of Saxony's presence on the island. We look forward to this cooperation," explains Dirk Panter, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Labor, Energy, and Climate Protection.
"We are delighted to have gained an experienced and established partner in the AHK Taiwan for further development of the Taiwanese market and expansion of cooperation with Taiwan. We expect this to result in more effective support for Saxon companies on the ground and more targeted acquisition of potential investors. This also gives us the opportunity to further establish Saxony as an ecosystem and hub for Taiwanese companies in Europe," explains WFS Managing Director Thomas Horn.
International WFS representatives
To carry out its tasks in relevant foreign markets, WFS relies on the support of local partners and representatives. Specifically, this involves providing information about export opportunities and cooperation possibilities, establishing contacts between companies from Taiwan and Saxony, marketing Saxony as a business location in Taiwan, supporting Saxon delegations, and organizing specialist events on site.
Further activities in Asia
Other relevant dates in the course of the year are SEMICON Taiwan from September 1 to 4 and SEMICON Japan from December 9 to 11, where Saxon companies will once again be represented as part of a German Pavilion. At the beginning of February 2026, WFS presented Saxony as a business location at SEMICON Korea in Seoul and promoted joint projects.
Economic relations between Taiwan and Saxony
The growth in foreign trade relations between Saxony and Taiwan is also underlined by foreign trade figures. In the third quarter of 2025, Taiwan ranked ninth in Saxony's exports with 1.37 billion euros. Compared to the previous year, exports rose by 20 percent. Electrical engineering products are by far the main export goods. These are followed by automotive products and chemical precursors. Taiwan ranks 12th in terms of imports. Here, imports of Taiwanese products and goods have risen by 35 percent. Electrical engineering products also rank first here, followed by bicycles and mechanical engineering products.
