Precise heat for forming and sealing
watttron develops and produces innovative heating systems for applications that require spot, temperature and time-accurate heating. watttron's heating systems have been proven to enable material and energy savings of up to 30 %, depending on the application.
Watttron, based in Freital near Dresden, is a spin-off of the Institute of Natural Materials Technology at the Dresden University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV.
The product range includes digital sealing systems, surface heating systems for thermoformed packaging and integrated in-line quality control. With the cera2seal® heating system, complicated packaging geometries can be realized for the first time worldwide - for example, complex irregular shapes. But also circular geometries with different diameters and widths as well as sealing bars with special, customer-specific contours. The pixel-by-pixel temperature control of the surface heating system enables maximum precision and offers the possibility of specifically influencing the material flow and thus the wall thickness distribution of the packaging. The innovative in-line quality control system takes the sealing process to a new level: it detects irregularities in real time, ensures perfect seals and eliminates the need for additional sensors or vision systems.
The technologies have won several awards to date, including the German Raw Material Efficiency Award and the German Packaging Award.
