Packwise GmbH from Dresden has quickly established itself as an important driving force for the digital transformation of the process industry. Founded in 2017 by Gesche Weger, Felix Weger and René Bernhardt, Packwise offers comprehensive industrial IoT solutions. With the Saxon company's sensor boxes, software and complete IIoT solutions, customers can seamlessly monitor and optimize their supply chains.

The company's core innovation is the intelligent unit comprising sensor technology and software. The robust and durable Packwise Smart Cap sensor is simply mounted on industrial packaging such as intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). It continuously provides essential information worldwide about the fill level, exact location, temperature and movement of the goods. Data transmission is energy-efficient and reliable via mobile radio. The smart caps can even be used in potentially explosive environments and regions with poor mobile phone coverage.

These "million eyes", as the system is often referred to in the press, feed the information they collect into the Packwise Flow cloud platform. There, the data is intelligently analysed and visualized. This provides users with decisive competitive advantages: The management of container fleets becomes more precise, processes such as automatic reordering (vendor-managed inventory, VMI) take place without manual intervention, and logistics costs fall significantly. Packwise also makes a tangible contribution to sustainability by increasing resource efficiency and reducing the ecological footprint.

The potential of this technology has also convinced investors: Packwise recently secured a seven-figure financing round - including from Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS). The Dresden-based company is also using this growth capital to accelerate the internationalization of its business, including through offices in North America. The aim is to bring the IoT solution developed in Dresden to other global markets as quickly as possible, particularly in logistically demanding regions such as the USA and Canada. "We are the market leader in Europe with our technology," says Packwise co-founder and Head of Product Management Felix Weger. "Now we are taking the next step." The innovative company is once again proving how Saxony's engineering expertise is driving the digitalization of global industry.
