D3TN is involved in various international development projects. In the DARKSOL project, for example, researchers are exploring approaches for implementing a “space cloud,” which is intended to enable the operation of applications in the space industry—such as those for satellites, robotics, or space probes—in a manner similar to that of a modern data center on Earth. In the Europe-wide MISSION project—Models in Space Systems: Integration, Operation, and Networking—D3TN is working on delay-tolerant protocols for networking in space.
