Specialist for organic oats
Rubinmühle Vogtland specializes in the production of cereal flakes and other milled products. In addition to spelt, barley, wheat and rye, it mainly processes oats into flakes, flour and groats. A large proportion of the oats are organically grown.
In automated processes, the oat kernels are first cleaned, then the husks are removed and then processed into flakes, flour or groats. The oat groats are the starting product for other products. For example, it is rolled out to make small oat flakes. Large-leaf oat flakes, on the other hand, are made from whole oat kernels.
Founded in 2013, Rubinmühle Vogtland GmbH in Plauen-Oberlosa is part of Rubin GmbH & Co KG in Lahr, Baden-Württemberg. The production of oat flakes for well-known muesli brands began in 2015 with the commissioning of a modern mill. Due to the growing demand for oat products, around 23 million euros were invested in an office building and a new hulling and flake mill at the site by 2023. This doubled the production capacity, meaning that the mill can now process more than 400 tons of oats every day - around three quarters of this into oat flakes and the rest into oat flour, the basis for oat drink. The company supplies customers all over the world and is one of the European market leaders, particularly in the processing of organic oats.
Rubinmühle Vogtland currently employs around 70 people in production, sales and administration. In the future, the company, which is certified according to the IFS Food Standard, would like to further establish itself internationally. Among other things, it is counting on the change in eating habits and the growing interest in oat products.
