  • Mission and vision

The ETRC is located at the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS in Chemnitz and supports customers from industry and science in making semiconductor technologies more reliable, robust, marketable and sustainable right from the development stage. Through the close combination of applied research, industrial cooperation and state-of-the-art test and reliability infrastructures, the ETRC makes a significant contribution to quality assurance, accelerating innovation and technological independence in Europe. The vision: a pan-European center for trust in microelectronics - through precise testing, sound reliability assessments, outstanding quality and bundled expert knowledge.

  • Origin and network

Since 2025, the ETRC has been bringing together scientific methods and outstanding expertise with industry requirements in a practice-oriented manner. This unique ecosystem for testing and reliability assessment of semiconductor innovations is based on Fraunhofer ENAS' longstanding experience in mechanical, thermal and electrical reliability assessment as well as expertise in the characterization and testing of electromechanical, photonic and RF devices, including the associated design, in close cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology. This expertise is complemented by the valuable know-how of other international partners from industry and science.

The ETRC is more than a technological test center - it is an industrial policy lever for Europe's technological sovereignty. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, AI-supported fault diagnostics and close links to research and industry. The ETRC supports the goals of the European Chips Act and promotes Saxony's role as a high-tech and leading microelectronics location in Europe.
