A success story from Saxony

Research into textile-reinforced concrete instead of steel-reinforced concrete began in Dresden with intensive basic research from the end of the 20th century and the first practical projects at the beginning of the 21st century. Between 2014 and 2022, the world's largest development project on carbon reinforced concrete was coordinated from Saxony - with over 150 partners and over 60 million euros for practical development.

Innovation cluster

In Saxony, various networks and clusters are working together to promote the development of innovative textile materials and products to open up new areas of application and the more efficient use of sustainable raw materials in the construction industry.

texton e. V. is an association of companies and research institutions from the entire construction industry value chain. In close cooperation with scientific institutions, the topic of fiber- and textile-reinforced concretes is dealt with. The focus of the joint work is the technologically oriented development of practical new products. In this context, texton offers services and project developments.

The aim of the LignoSax cluster is to develop innovative products and solutions from the raw material wood and the associated increase in added value. In this context, one of LignoSax's goals is to increase the use of wood in the Saxon construction industry. However, the focus is also on recycling old timber and reusing it as a building material.
