The VW Group has been involved in Saxony for over 30 years. VW is also relying on the unique expertise of “Autoland Saxony” as part of its electromobility offensive - it started in Zwickau. Today the largest and most efficient electric car factory in Europe works here.

The BMW Plant Leipzig, which opened in 2005, is one of the most modern and sustainable car factories in the world. It is also a pioneer when it comes to electromobility: the BMWi3, the world's first premium vehicle designed from the ground up for electric drive, was launched on the road from here.

About every third Porsche is "Made in Saxony". In August 2002, the first vehicle built in Leipzig rolled off the production line - the Cayenne SUV. Since then, the factory in Saxony has stood for pioneering automotive engineering.

Deutsche ACCUMOTIVE GmbH & Co. KG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG, has been producing traction batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and smart as well as for commercial vehicles at its Kamenz site since 2012.

With six vehicle, engine and battery plants operated by Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, "Autoland Saxony" is one of the top 5 automotive locations in Germany. Every eighth car and 40% of all fully electric cars built in Germany are "Made in Saxony".

Saxony has stood for innovation in the rail sector for more than 175 years. Since then, Saxony has developed into a leading rail technology location and is one of the top 3 centers of the industry in Germany.

The predominantly medium-sized supplier landscape in Saxony is a reliable partner to major aircraft manufacturers and is involved in major international projects such as the A350 program. Its core competencies are lightweight components, testing and sensor technology and aircraft conversion.
