Saxony Excels as a Center for Robotics

Numerous companies in Saxony that specialize in the planning and integration of robotics into complex production systems play a part in the consistent automation of production in Zwickau.

Automation solutions from Saxony are making a significant contribution to future-proofing the German chip industry. Infineon Technologies, for example, successfully mastered post-automation in its 200 mm production facility in Dresden with the help of partners from Saxony.

In a very short space of time, the Dresden-based robotics specialist Wandelbots, together with other partners, was able to implement a complete solution for end-to-end process automation and a cobotics solution for the small-batch production of radiopharmaceutical products for ROTOP Pharmaka.

The training and application center of the ICM - Institut Chemnitzer Maschinen- und Anlagenbau investigates and develops new concepts for the implementation of collaborative assembly systems. A number of SMEs have already been able to see the positive effects for themselves.

The Siemens Group, the Chemnitz-based 3dvisionlabs GmbH as well as the Dresden-based Robotron and Wandelbots corporations have joined forces to develop the so-called “RoboSpector:” A mobile robotic cell which supports companies in implementing new automation projects.

The Dresden-based technology enterprises Wandelbots GmbH and Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH, and the US software group Microsoft have jointly developed new automated quality control solutions for the BMW Group Plant in Dingolfing.

At the Meleghy Automotive plant in Reinsdorf, a total of 80 robots in four lines weld, glue and clip e-vehicle components for VW in nearby Zwickau. The automation experts from AKE Systemtechnik GmbH Reinsdorf developed the technical solution and got it up and running.

The Wandelbots GmbH has set ambitious objectives for itself: The young Dresden-based enterprise wants to trigger nothing less than a revolution in robotics. Thanks to new technologies, the user does not have to write a single line of programme.

Since 1991, Sitec Industrietechnologie GmbH from Chemnitz has built around 3,000 production systems. The customised robotic solutions not only move workpieces from A to B, but also perform operations such as laser welding, laser cutting or assembly and joining processes.

They can insert tiny little contacts into injection molding machines with utmost dexterity and position heavy components with pinpoint accuracy for the precision assembly of utility vehicle axles: Robotics solutions made by Aumann Limbach-Oberfrohna.
